Sudden Brianwaves

Chris and I were a little crazy a couple of weeks ago and wanted to go walking but it was rainning so we decided to go shopping at Metrotown in Vancouver on a Saturday. Well, as we thought it would be, it was very busy. For the first half of our shopping trip Chris tried to keep up with David. Well I pushed Jaclyn around in the stroller. Then I had a sudden brain storm and I had the idea of putting them together, and as you can see, it ended up working out pretty well. Better then I thought it would go.

They were very good together, David had his snack there and he made Jaclyn smile and giggle a bit. They were very cute together.
I am very glad that they get along and that David is gentle with her as well as Jaclyn being patient with him.
They sure have fun together!

She is getting Bigger

Well Jacyln is growing so much these days. She now weighs 15lbs and is smiling and giggling all the time. I am really enjoying having a little girl. Chris and I wanted to get Jaclyn a new car seat that stays in the car. When we went to buy her a car seat there were two one that was grey and the pink one. As you can see we bought the pink one. I have to tell you I really like the pink one, its so girly and fun. Anyways here are some pictures of the kids in the back of our truck.

Don't they look cute in the car?

Brother & Sister Love

David loves it when Jaclyn plays on the floor. As soon as I put her down he gets really excited and gets down there with her. Here are some pictures that I took the other day of them playing.
I am praying that as they grow, they continue to play well together.

David really likes to kiss Jaclyn's hand, as you can see she isn't as interested this time.

He likes to get as close as possible to her. He has even "steam-rolled" over her. She just smiles at him when he does this.
He was trying to have her play with her toy. As you can see she is more interested in watching him and he was interested in something else as well.

My little Girl

Well I can't believe that she is already two months old! The last two months has been a wonderful time getting to know my daughter and watching my David love his sister. Jaclyn has been an amazing addition to our family. Even though she has only been here for just over two months we can't imagine not having her here with us.
Here are just a few recent pictures that I have taken of my little girl!
Two months
Hanging out on the floor
My little beauty.
Jaclyn has been spending more time awake these days which has been lots of fun playing with her and watching David play her. She smiles all the time and is starting to "giggle" a little bit. I love all the nosies that she is making. It is so much fun having a little girl.
One other thing that Jaclyn is doing now is sleeping through the night. When she was three weeks old she started to only wake up once in the night. Then when she was six weeks old that middle of the night feed would last about ten to fifteen minutes. Then last Saturday night she slept all night. For the last few weeks Jaclyn has been going to bed at 8:30pm and David's bedtime is at 7:30pm, so Chris and I are able to spend time together just the two of us until we go to bed (at 10:00pm, wow how life has changed)

David and his Bed

Last night makes it one week that David has been in his new bed. When I last blogged on him moving into his bed, it was the first day and was really nervous about the whole thing. Well this is what our week has looked like.....
On the first day, his nap time was the hardest (that's when I first talked about his bed), once he got to sleep he had a full nap. Bedtime went ok, he woke up once in the night. Much better then I thought it would go. The second night was going well until he fell out of his bed, he wasn't hurt but he was scared and it took over two hours to put him back to bed. The next day we put up a bed rail and after that he has done really well. When we put him down he asked to cuddle in his bed about half the time. He also likes to play in his bed during the day. Here are some pictures of him being silly in his bed.

David likes his new bed and his new blanket that Chris got him. This week when someone would come over he wanted to show them his bed.
I still can't believe that he is in a big boy bed, he looks so little when he is in it.
I am very proud of David and the way that he has taken the changes in his life over the last few months.

Going Green!!

Ever since David was born we have talked about getting cloth diapers. We never did though, well we have now! Last week I talked to a friend of mine (thanks Jinny) about the cloth diapers that she was using and she was able to answer all of my questions. The next I did some more research and found a local place to find them and then Chris and I went out and bought them.
I am so happy with them, they are really easy to use and David seems to like them as well. I will be switching Jaclyn over to them in a few weeks when I get the rest of the diapers that I ordered. We are very happy to be using cloth, they are good on the environment and on our pocket book! They also come in some fun colors, I ordered green, white and yellow. They come in pink and blue but because I am using them on both kids I went for non-gender specific. One other thing I like about these diapers is that they are good from birth to thirty pounds or until they potty trained.

Here is David dancing around and showing off his new diapers

Big Bed

This morning Chris put together David's new bed. We bought him a twin bed and this afternoons nap is his first time sleeping in a real bed by himself. We wanted to have him involved in the process so we had him "help" us pick out sheets yesterday and this morning he "helped" put his bed together. Then when it was all done he went into Jaclyn's room and saw the crib in pieces on the floor and when I took him out of her room he started to cry and wanted his bed. It was really hard to see my little boy so upset and not understanding why his bed was gone and why he had a new bed in his room.

Normally when I put him down for his nap I bring him in his room and give him a short cuddle and then lay him down and he falls asleep on his own. Today however when I went to lay him down he grabbed onto my shirt and said "mom cuddle, mom cuddle" So I sat on my chair in his room and held him for a few minutes and then laid him down. I then left his room. He started to cry and call for me and when I went back into his room he was at the door holding his monkey. I gave in and rocked him in his room until he fell asleep then I put him to bed. I feel like I tricked him into sleeping in his bad. I am worried about what will happen when he wakes up and finds himself in his bed alone. I am praying that he likes it and that we don't have any problems tonight for bedtime.

If anyone has any ideas for how to get a toddler sleep on their own in a big bed feel free to leave me a comment. Thanks

My Babies

We were given this sleeper by some friends of ours when David was born. It is one of the only things that I am able to use for both kids. I put it on Jaclyn tonight and thought I would take a picture of her in it. I also have pictures of David in it. I thought that it was cute to see how the same outfit looks so different on each child.

David
Jaclyn
One thing I am finding different is how much faster Jaclyn is growing compared to David at her age. I was at the doctor for Jaclyn's six week check-up last Thursday and she weighed 11lbs 6oz. David was almost ten weeks by the time he weighed that. It does make a difference that David was 6lbs 12oz when he was born and Jaclyn was 8lbs.
Some days it seems like she is growing so much faster. Part of me wants her to stay little for a long time because she is my last baby.

Friends Playing

David has a friend named Adam who is six months younger then him. When Adam was born David wanted to play with him every time we got together with his parents, he would even try to climb into his car seat with him as Adam got bigger. As Adam was able to move more on his own they started to play a lot more together. Now that they are older and keep up with each other they play really well together (when they are not sick)
Last weekend we were visiting at their house and the boys were playing in Adams tent (this tent is really cool it fits over a twin size bed) Anyways here are some pictures of the boys together.

Kissing at Bedtime

Tonight at bedtime when David was giving both me and Chris kisses he was also holding his rubber duck and gave it a kiss. Then he kissed the ducks bum, I told him not to kiss the ducks bum. Then he said "bum kisser" and kissed its bum again!
It was so funny that I had to blog about it!!

Silly Boy

David loves to help me do the laundry, in fact when I go to the laundry room he follows me to help put things in the dryer. The other day my friend was over and brought me some of her girls clothes to borrow for Jaclyn. When we were sorting through the clothes David decided that he really liked this one shirt with Eeyore on it as well as ears and hair on the hood. It was really cute and funny to see him trying to put the shirt on so my girlfriend helped him get it on and we took pictures of him. He also went and looked in the mirror at himself and was very proud of himself. He then played in the shirt for a little while. It was very funny!!
David also likes to go into Jaclyn room and pull out her clothes and play with them. He even tries to put on some of them.

I am really enjoying watching David and Jaclyn together. He just loves her so much and wants to do everything with her. Just the other day he wanted to give her "high five" so he tried and finally asked me to help him. It was very funny!
In the last two weeks David has become very concerned when someone other then me or Chris is holding Jaclyn. We could have family or friends holding her and he starts to get really upset and sometimes even cries. I have to tell him that its OK and that I have given permission for that person to hold her. Its great that he loves her so much. He still has a problem with me holding another baby. In David's eyes I am only aloud to hold him or Jaclyn.

My little Girl

So I have to say that having a little girl is very different from having a boy. Up until now all I have known is having a boy, I love my little boy and everything to do with having a little boy, but I am learning about what fun it is and will be to have a girl now. I have been and still am a little nervous about having a daughter. I know what to do with a son, I understand how he likes to play. The nice thing for me is that I grew up in a house with boys, up until I was 16 it was me my three brothers and our parents. (after that it was a little different) So boys is what I was use too. When David was born I was so excited both Chris and I wanted to have a boy first and he was perfect in every way. We have always wanted to have two children and we had both agreed that if we were going to have two sons that would be great, ideally we wanted to have a boy and a girl.

Now with my pregnancy with Jaclyn I felt from the beginning that I was having a girl. During my pregnancy I would look at girly things and dream about what she would be like, the whole time I would do this I would also be getting ready for another boy. The theme I had pick for her room was even more of a boy theme. (that has changed now) When she was born and they told me she was a girl I was so excited and scared at the same time. Now that she has been here for a couple of weeks I have started to get use to all the pink and girly things. In fact I think that all of it is wonderful! I am excited to put dresses on her and dress her up. I am looking forward to watching her grow up.
I love her smile!
Her first real outfit!
Playing on the floor
I love my daughter!

Sick Kids

The weekend that Jaclyn was born David got a cold. Its not that big of a deal but then last week his cold turned into a stomach flu. I spent the day between feeding Jaclyn and putting her down and having David fall asleep on me, waking up and then vomiting, falling asleep, waking up and then vomiting, repeat. This ended up being my Tuesday last week. I was very thankful that Jaclyn sleeps a lot so that I was able to care for David. Thankfully the stomach flu only lasted for 24 hours, then all he had was a cold. I thought that he was getting better and then Jaclyn got the cold on Friday and the two of them were sharing it back and forth. So for Easter weekend Chris and I took care of our sick kids. I was so glad that Chris had Friday off because that was the worst day.
Jaclyn is starting to feel better now, I have been feeding her extra feeds in hopes that it helps her get over her cold faster. She has also been sleeping a lot which is also good.
David is still sick with his cold and is still clingy to me, he usually is when he is sick. I think that the most frustrating thing for me is that he is not sleeping as much as he should be for a sick child, not enough for a healthy child for that matter. He is waking up at night and is fighting me with all of his energy (and that's a lot for a sick child) for his nap times. I am praying that he gets better really soon and that his sleeping goes back to normal as well.
As you can imagine I am very tired and still recovering for surgery. So please pray that my kids get better and that I am able to get some rest.

More Pictures of our Kids

I thought that I would post some more pictures. I have some here that our from the night that Jaclyn was born and also some from when David met his little sister for the first time. It is one of those moments that I don't think Chris or I will ever forget.
Here is a picture taken of Jaclyn when she was only two or three hours old.
This one was taken the day after she was born, I love how perfect she looks.
This one was taken shortly after I was back from recovery and was able to hold her.
Here is a picture of David meeting his little sister for the first time. He had a big smile on his face the whole time that he was looking at her. So precious!!
Here is David giving her the first of many hugs.
David is really loving being a big brother, he wants to hold her all the time and give her hugs and kisses. He can't say her whole name, so he ends up calling her "Jac-Jac". We think that it is very cute and wouldn't be surprised if he called her "Jac-Jac" as his speech develops more, even when he can say her whole name. They are very cute together, Jaclyn will just stare up at him when he holds her.
As I am writing this David is watching Baby Einstein and just asked me to show "Jac-Jac" the orange color in the movie. It was very cute!

Our New Arrival

We would like to introduce you to our daughter Jaclyn Grace Heimsoth
Born on March 8, 2008 @ 8:15pm
She weighed 8lbs even.

Her arrival was an interesting journey for us. It started on Thursday March 6th, I was admitted into the hospital to be induced. I had been having problems with my pubic bone separating and my doctors felt that it was best for me to have the baby at 38 weeks. So I went in on Thursday to start that process. Thursday ended up not working, so I was back in on Friday and they tried again. I had contractions for most of the day and that evening I was sent home to rest and then come back in on Saturday. Friday night was a very long night for me, I was uncomfortable and in pain, but at the same time I felt like something was wrong. On Saturday morning I called the hospital and talked to the doctor and he wanted me in to be assessed. At 11:30am I was assessed and he found that nothing had changed and we starting to look into options for me and the baby. My doctor called the Obstetrician and she was in at around 1:30pm and she did an ultrasound to see what was going on. She discovered that Jaclyn was breached and she booked me into have a Cesarean for that evening. Chris and I were happy to know that we were going to meet our baby that evening, and that we were getting answers about what was going on. For the rest of that afternoon we spent trying to past the time. David came to visit and so did my mom and brother and sister. It was nice to spend time with them. (side note: Eric my brother turned 16 that day, he thinks that its cool to share his birthday with his niece)
When we were brought down to the O.R. Chris was left in the hallway to wait well they prepped me. Then they brought him in for her birth. When they were taking her out she was not wanting to come out. They started to take her out by her legs and she started to fight back, they realized that she was fighting because she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her leg once and her neck twice. Then then unwrapped her leg and then her neck, once this was done it was easier to take her out. The scariest part for us was when she wasn't breathing very much and her heart rate was down. The pediatrician started to stimulate her and got her heart rate up and her breathing going. That was the scariest moment in our lives.
We learned later that Jaclyn came out at the right time, because anymore time in she may not have made it.
We are so thankful to God for taking care of our little girl and keeping her safe inside and when coming out. As well as for giving the Obstetrician the wisdom in dealing with us, and to the whole O.R. team. We would also like to thank all of our friends and family for praying for us during this time. We now have a beautiful baby girl who is in perfect health and doing really well.
David loves being an older brother and wants to hold Jaclyn all the time and share his toys with her.

Update

In my last blog I said that I would be writing a full update for my next entry. So here it is.......
Chris and I have finished up our time in Kamloops at the end of last year and we moved our little family back to Abbotsford. We are in the middle of selling our house in Kamloops and have bought a townhouse here in Abbotsford. Right now we are setting it up and enjoying not doing any renovations. (This is the first time that Chris and I have bought a house that doesn't need any renovations on it. It is weird but very nice!) Chris has decided to go back to school for his Masters degree either in September of 08 or January of 09. For the time being Chris is working at a company doing shipping and receiving. Not exactly what he is use to but we both feel the that we need a break from working in a church setting. Chris is enjoying his job as much as he can, he has a lot of time to think and pray which is always good. David is just over 19 months old now and is keeping really busy. He is starting to talk a lot now and is developing more and more into his own personality. It is very fun to watch, sometime Chris and I just sit and watch him play or talk. We love being his parents. I am 37 weeks pregnant with our second child and am getting ready to meet our new little one. Every morning David will say good morning to the baby and give my belly a hug and a kiss, it is very cute. I am slowly setting up our house with the help from family and friends. Thank you to all that have helped me :)
Well that is the general update on the Heimsoth family.
In the past this blog has been mostly about David and how he is growing up. Well I am going to be adding updates on all four of us now. So that everyone reading will be able to keep up with what is happening with us.

A few pictures from the past couple of weeks

Well our life has been really busy the last few months, but that will have to be a different blog. This one will be on a few new pictures of David........
I just thought that this pictures was cute, no story to go with it. David really likes to wear Chris's sunglasses, he likes to be like his daddy.
Here is a picture of him laughing well sitting with his dad, I just love his smile.
As I have mentioned in other entry's David has a friend Jenna that was born 1.5 hours after him. The best thing about these two is that no matter how often they see each other they play together really well. Here they are playing on Jenna's truck! On the same day that this was taken David was suppose to be taking a nap at one point and he just sat in his playpen calling for Jenna over and over again. It was very funny, but it did mean that our visit was cut short so that he would get his nap in.
My mom made capes when my brothers and I were kids, we use to play with them all the time. Well one of the capes was pulled out of storage recently and David along with his cousins love to play with it. Here is David wearing his cape and playing ball.
Well that is all for now, but I will try and blog again soon with an update on our family. I hope that everyone is having a good start to the new year so far!

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to all our friends and family!!
We went on a Sleigh Ride at Sun Peaks Ski Resort tonight (Christmas Eve) It was a really fun experience and David seemed to enjoy himself. Both Chris and I had fun as well, its one of those things that you think about doing at Christmas but don't always get a chance to do. We are glad that we took the opportunity.
Here is David waiting in the lodge ready for the Sleigh Ride!!
Merry Christmas everyone and we hope that you are all able to spend Christmas with your loved ones and have a wonderful time!

First Haircut

So Chris and I have never cut David's hair.
Over the last few months we have been watching his hair grow and delaying doing the haircut. (It was starting to look like hockey hair, so we had to do something about it)
We love his curls so much that we didn't want to lose them. Well tonight we did cut his hair.
Even though David was tired and not in the mood to sit still we managed to get it done with it still looking cute and curly!!
Before the haircut
Notice the beginning of the hockey hair.
After his hair cut, happy to play and not have us cutting his hair.
It almost looks like he has more curl on top!
Look at how much hair we cut off.
