One Week Today

Well today David is one week old and I have to say that I have loved the last week watching him as he is discovering the world around him, and I am looking forward to watching him as he grows up. I am not sure as to how much the average new baby stays awake but David loves to be awake and looking around at his suroundings. In the past few days he has had a time in the morning and afternoon where he will stay awake. During this time I will talk to him and he will just stare up at me (I love being his mom) or I will put him down on the couch and he looks around taking everything in. In the evenings when Chris comes home David and Daddy hang out on the couch, its wonderful to watch the two men in my life together.
David is already starting to develop his personality. He is starting to smile at us when we talk to him. I feel very blessed and am very glad that David is here. He makes me so happy and is a wonderful addition to our family.

First Everything

One of the most amazing things for us as new parents is how everything, even the mundane and ordinary stuff is exciting, because it's the first time we do it with David, and the first time period for David. We wanted to go for a walk around the neiborhood, but it has been so hot that we had to wait till this morning to go, since it was much cooler if you are out before 9am. So we got to break in the stroller and David got to cruise around, though he did seem to be content to sleep through most of the trip, I am sure he enjoyed the time with his parents in a new setting.

We (Katherine and I) find ourselves getting all gushy and picture crazy over every little thing, like his first time on a car ride, or first bath at home, or any number of other things. It's kind of crazy really, but a very good kind of crazy if you ask me. We are about to get David weighed in. Not for a boxing match or anything, just cuz that is what you do with new babies, make sure they are gaining weight(or not lossing too much in the first few days) and that everything is healthy. So we must go now and meet the Nurse.

Ciao

David Cole Heimsoth

We would like to announce the Birth of David Cole Heimsoth on July 19th, 2006. He came into this world at 3:01pm wide awake and ready to take everything in. He was quite excited to come out and meet everyone. He weighed in at just over 6 pounds and 12 ounces. We were very happy to meet him and there was many tears shed by both Katherine and myself.

David is such an amazing child. He was so smart that he picked up the whole breastfeeding thing in no time, and got his bowels working and all that other good stuff. The Hospital staff was so impressed with how fast he got the hang off "life on the outside" that they let us all go home a day early, after just 27 hours in the hospital since David was born.

Count Down

This is our first family blog, where we get to regail you with stories of how the family is doing, and keep you all up to date on the baby. It should be at least somewhat interesting, but we shall see.

We are in the final count down now before the arrival of Little Baby Heimsoth. We are very excited to finally meet our little one, after 9 months of waiting. We will update you all when the baby arrives (or in the days after, because really, there are more important things to do than blog). But the news will go out soon.
